There is something innately comforting about a warm bowl of split pea soup in the winter. Split pea soup is also really easy to make in the slow-cooker. Following is a very basic split pea soup recipe. This is how I prefer to eat split pea soup - without ham or lots of spices.
You will need:
- Dried green split peas
- Spices: salt, garlic, black pepper
- Sort through and rinse your split peas, and then place them in the slow cooker.
- Add approximately 4 parts water for every 1 part split peas. Ensure that your cooker is filled 2/3 to 4/5 full with peas and water.
- Cook the peas in the slow cooker until they are soft.
- Add spices to taste.
- Enjoy!
